I can’t believe you are going to be 4 tomorrow, where have those years gone?!
You were the first person to call me Mummy and you’ll always be my baby boy even when you’re 50. You were the first one to hear what my heartbeat sounds like from the inside, you were the first firsts… first words, first teeth, first steps.
You are suddenly not my baby anymore but my amazing little boy. You are clever, funny and annoying all rolled into one. You know how to wind me up, you know how to cheer me up, you know how to make me laugh and you know how to make me cry. You annoy the hell out of me at times and I often feel like I’m not doing a good job, but without you baby, my life wouldn’t be the same.
The world is a terrible place at times and I promise to do my best to always protect and look after you and one day when I’m old I hope you’ll do the same. I want you to know that no matter what, I’ll always be your Mum and you’ll always have a home with me (I might regret saying that if you’re not moved out by the age of 30)
I also want you to know that no matter where your life takes you and no matter what choices you make, I’ll always be proud to call you my son.
But lets not rush, time moves quickly baby boy.. for now I want you to enjoy being a 4 year old, riding your new Paw Patrol bike and playing with water naked in Nanny’s garden.
I hope that one day you’ll get to read this letter and know just how much I love you.
I’ll love you forever Alfie,
